Paul Dyer

Stephen is a figurative painter whose influences lie within German & Australian Expressionism. His paintings explore mythical themes in contemporary contexts. His works have been described as tense, mythological compositions executed in jewel-like colours that evoke Roualt, Beckman & certain Melbourne Romantic painters.

Stephen's portrait of author Amanda Lohrey which was hung in the Salon de Refuse can be viewed at the top of the gracious hand carved staircase. Opposite hangs the portrait of Paul Dyer, Director Australian Brandenburg Orchestra. Stephen James' work can also be viewed in the Coachman's Room and The Manor.
